Wilhelm Meyer and the Dream of al-Andalus

Virtual exhibition on www.transculturalstudies.ch

The exhibition, elaborated within the SNSF-project Mudejarismo and Moorish Revival in Europe, presents the architectural sketches of the Zurich painter Wilhelm Meyer, made during his sojourn in Spain in 1845-1846. The exhibition aims to demonstrate the importance of al-Andalus for 19th-century art and architecture, taking as a point of departure the minutely detailed pencil drawings and watercolours preserved in the Kunsthaus Zürich’s collection of prints and drawings.

In collaboration with Kunsthaus Zürich, Graphische Sammlung.
